Class 3 – SQL Azure & the Cloud for SQL Professionals

This course is level 200 - 300 and is perfect for one who is just starting to look at the Azure platform for SQL Server and is new to Azure Concepts such as the Azure Fabric, Upgrade Domains, Fault Domains, Federation and Scalability and Transient Fault Handling.

Many SQL Professionals are just evaluating what Azure and the cloud means for them. With much pressure from catch phrase heavy senior management who have visited the latest trade show, now is a good time to evaluate what the Azure Platform can offer SQL professionals.

In this session we will start with an Introduction to the Azure platform, and in particular SQL Azure. Then we will show tools and methodologies to migrate on premise databases into the cloud, using a sample application and database. Finally we will detail some of the Azure specific features that enable massive scale OLTP solutions such as federations.
